Teachers from 6 Governates reflect on their introduction to Teachers First

Teachers from across 6 Egyptian Governates recently benefited from a Teachers First professional development workshop. The teachers came from all stages of the education process and 95% of participants taught the full range of curriculum subjects. The workshop introduce participants to the concept of the Egyptian Learning Society, Communities of Practice, Understanding the Role of the Teacher and the Reflective Teacher.   The teachers enjoyed the workshop activities and the opportunities to share ideas.  The uniqueness of the Teachers First Program was very appealing with useful tools such as Lengo and The Learning Library.  Everyone recognised the challenge of changing teacher behaviour but all the participants left the workshop feeling empowered to make this change.  A teacher from Kafr Elshiekh commented “I have been working as a teacher for 30 years, but for the first time I have stopped and reflected on myself and how I behave inside in the classroom”
